St Brendan’s claim Dolphins Cup and Challenge double
St Brendan’s College capped off a strong day of schoolboy rugby league, claiming both the Dolphins Schoolboys Cup and Dolphins Challenge Grand Finals against The Cathedral College.
The two schools went head-to-head across both boys’ deciders, with St Brendan’s coming away with the silverware in two closely contested matches.
Dolphins Schoolboys Cup
St Brendan’s College secured the Dolphins Schoolboys Cup with a thrilling 22-20 victory over The Cathedral College.
St Brendan’s took an 18-10 advantage into half-time before The Cathedral College fought their way back into the contest in the second half.
However, St Brendan’s held on to secure the two-point victory and the 2026 Dolphins Schoolboys Cup title.
The victory continued a strong run in the competition for St Brendan’s, who have established themselves as one of the leading school rugby league programs in the region.
Kobe Oberhardt was named the Dolphins Schoolboys Cup Player of the Final after an influential performance for St Brendan’s.
Oberhardt crossed for a try, kicked three goals from four attempts and produced two try assists to help steer his side to victory.
Dolphins Challenge
St Brendan’s also got the better of The Cathedral College in the Dolphins Challenge Grand Final, recording a 22-14 victory.
St Brendan’s entered the break with a 12-6 lead before going on with the job in the second half to secure the eight-point win.
Harlan Oberhardt was named the Dolphins Challenge Player of the Final after scoring two tries and setting up another in the victory.
The Cathedral College make it three straight
The Cathedral College had success in the Dolphins Schoolgirls Cup, securing the title for the third consecutive year.
Their latest triumph continued an impressive run in the competition and capped another strong campaign for the school.
The Cathedral College’s Lara Kamau was recognised for her performances throughout the season, earning the Dolphins Schoolgirls Player of the Competition award.
The three Grand Finals showcased the strength of school rugby league across the Dolphins catchment, with the competitions continuing to provide young players with opportunities to develop and compete at a high level.
