Jake Averillo is set to spend up to six weeks on the sidelines after undergoing successful surgery on a hand injury.
The injury ruled Averillo out of the Dolphins’ ANZAC Round clash against the Warriors, with surgery confirming he had suffered dislocations to his fingers in the tackle.
The procedure also repaired a wound that had opened as a result of the force of the contact.
Averillo is expected to return to the field in around six weeks.
In positive news for the Dolphins, Morgan Knowles is expected to return from a calf injury, while Kurt Donoghoe is working towards a come back from a hamstring injury and Brad Schneider is expected to return after missing time through illness.
Jack Bostock also made his return through Queensland Cup over the weekend after recovering from his ACL injury.
