The Dolphins NRLQ side has reshuffled ahead of a crucial top-of-the-table clash against the Cowboys in Townsville this Saturday afternoon.
The Dolphins head north to Queensland Country Bank Stadium, where they will take on the Cowboys as a curtain raiser to the NRL XXXX Derby.
Tevita Naufahu slides into the side on the wing, with LJ Nonu named on the opposite edge. Patrick Kailahi starts at prop, while John Fineanganofo steps into the hooker role.
Jacob Moreton joins Jack Margetts in the second row, with Lauloto Salei starting at lock.
The interchange also features plenty of strength, with Amare Wynyard named in the number 14 jersey. Karl Oloapu adds depth to the bench, alongside Charlie Strong, Jonah Raidaveta and Kurt Jones.
Saturday’s clash shapes as a crucial battle between the competition’s top two sides, with the Cowboys sitting first on the ladder and the Dolphins close behind. With first place on the line, a victory would provide a significant boost heading into the second half of the season.
The last time these two teams met was just last month in Cairns, with the Dolphins claiming a dramatic 24-22 victory.
Trailing late in the contest, Charlie Dickson crossed in the 71st minute before Callum Bowles converted to level the scores. With the match hanging in the balance, the Dolphins elected to take a penalty goal in the 77th minute, with Bowles calmly slotting the kick to secure the two-point win.
The Dolphins are coming off a hard-fought draw against the Broncos last week and will be eager to return to the winner’s circle before a short break ahead of their Round 8 trip to the Gold Coast.
Running out in front of an NRL crowd provides another valuable opportunity for the Dolphins’ emerging talent to showcase their skills on a big stage.
Kick-off is at 2:20pm.
