The Dolphins NRLQ 21s have claimed their first win of the season, holding off the Broncos in a hard-fought 20-12 victory.
It was the Dolphins who struck first, with winger Callum Bowles crossing in the seventh minute before calmly converting his own try to give his side an early advantage.
The momentum continued shortly after, with Seth Carpenter adding to the tally in the 15th minute as the Dolphins began to build pressure
The Broncos responded in the 24th minute to keep themselves in the contest, but the Dolphins held firm to take a 10-6 lead into halftime.
The second half opened in exciting fashion, with Noah Fien producing a strong line break to score in the 43rd minute, extending the Dolphins’ lead. The Broncos again hit back in the 64th minute, narrowing the margin to 14-12 and setting up a tense finish.
With just 14 minutes remaining, the game was on the line.
It was a moment of brilliance from Brooklyn Sabine that sealed the result, with the fullback intercepting a pass and racing away to score in the 72nd minute. The conversion pushed the Dolphins out to 20-12, securing their first win of the 2026 campaign.
The Dolphins will now turn their attention to Round 4, where they travel north to take on the Cowboys at Barlow Park in Cairns on Saturday, May 16.
