50-50 Charity Raffle - Round 1 Update

A lucky attendee at the Dolphins’ Round 1 match against the North Queensland Cowboys has walked away with a cheque for more than $13,000 just for supporting the club’s charity partner, Cancer Council Queensland.

The season opener marked a strong return of the 50-50 Charity raffle to the Dolphins’ game day offering.

After a successful inaugural season in 2023 working with various charity partners to raise vital funds, our first 50-50 raffle of the year saw the second-highest total jackpot ever raised at a Dolphins home game.

And it was one lucky attendee named Chris who was announced as the winner and walked away with $13,396.

"I'm thrilled to share this moment with my friends and family who attended the game with me. It's truly a special experience, and I'm incredibly grateful,” said Chris after being presented with the winner’s cheque.

The charity partner for the game, Cancer Council Queensland, highlighted the significance of the event in their ongoing mission to combat cancer.

"Our research shows that every year, more than 32,000 Queenslanders are diagnosed with cancer - that is one person every 17 minutes,” said Cancer Council Queensland CEO, Andrew Donne.

The partnership for this event signified a major step in raising awareness and funds for cancer research and support services. Through the 50-50 charity raffle, proceeds raised would contribute directly to Cancer Council Queensland's initiatives, which include allocated funding towards vital programs such as statewide accommodation, counselling services, and sun safety programs.

"We are incredibly humbled to be Dolphin’s first official charity partner in 2024,” said Donne.

“Now, more than ever, we need help to ensure no Queenslander is left facing cancer alone.”

As the partnership between the Dolphins and Cancer Council Queensland continues, there is hope for greater awareness and support in the fight against cancer, uniting Queenslanders in a shared mission for a cancer-free future.
