Dolphins outside back Jack Bostock traded the football field for the kitchen this week, spending time with the young people at Chameleon Housing and sharing some valuable life skills.
Bostock was welcomed into one of Chameleon Housing’s homes, where he joined residents in preparing a meal, sharing stories and spending quality time together.
Chameleon Housing provides safe accommodation and support for young people and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness, helping them access the services and guidance they need to build brighter futures.
Working alongside the young residents, Bostock helped cook dinner while encouraging the importance of learning practical life skills.
“It’s a skill everyone needs,” Bostock said.
“Being able to cook for yourself is something you’ll use for the rest of your life, so if I can help pass on a few tips and spend some time with everyone, it’s something I’m really happy to do.”
The visit was about much more than preparing a meal, with conversations, laughter and shared experiences creating a memorable afternoon for everyone involved.
Staff at Chameleon Housing said teaching life skills such as cooking plays an important role in helping young people prepare for independent living. They appreciated Bostock taking the time to visit, with residents enjoying the opportunity to chat, share stories and get to know the Dolphins star in a relaxed environment.
To top off the visit, Bostock invited everyone at the home to attend an upcoming Dolphins match at Suncorp Stadium, giving them the chance to experience game day together.
The visit continues the Dolphins’ strong relationship with Chameleon Housing, which was recently a Dolphins 50-50 Charity Raffle partner. Through the generosity of Dolphins members and fans, the partnership raised $23,079, with the funds going directly towards supporting Chameleon Housing’s programs and the young people they assist every day.
