Tomorrow night's Battle for Brisbane officially sold out

The Battle for Brisbane between the Dolphins and Broncos is officially a sell-out.

Well over 50,000 tickets have been sold for the match that will pit the NRL’s two Brisbane-based teams against each other for the first time.

In what is destined to become one of the biggest rivalries in Australian sport, the two clubs will meet tomorrow night as the top two teams on the NRL ladder.

With three victories recorded by each club so far this year, only one team will remain undefeated at the conclusion of the game.

But the real winner here is the rugby league public in Brisbane, said Dolphins’ chief executive Terry Reader.

“It has really been an amazing week for the game in this city and state,” said Reader.

“To sell the first Battle For Brisbane out shows just how strong the appetite for a local derby is and demonstrates what the sport means to people in this area.

A post shared by Dolphins NRL (@dolphinsnrl)

“This is just the first installment of what we believe will become one of the biggest matches on the Australian sporting calendar every year.

“And thanks to the vision of the NRL to put a second team in the Brisbane area, it will happen twice every year.

“We pay homage to all of the Dolphins members and our fans, as well as the Broncos supporters that will be part of this historic crowd.

“What a night we are set for.”

The match between the Dolphins and Broncos will kick off at 7pm sharp (Qld time).
