Cobbo pledges future to the Phins

Selwyn Cobbo is locked in for the long-term with the Dolphins after agreeing to a four-year contract extension.

Already secured by the club for 2027, Cobbo today agreed to extend his time with the Dolphins until the end of the 2031 NRL season.

It means Cobbo will be a Dolphin for at least the next five years.

The 24-year-old has been electric in his first season in Dolphins colours, crossing for 18 tries in just 19 appearances.

A constant threat with the ball in hand, Cobbo has quickly become a key weapon in the Dolphins’ backline, bringing his trademark power, speed and finishing ability to the side.

His synergy with the Dolphins also paid dividends on the representative stage, with the rampaging winger returning to the Queensland State of Origin team in 2026.

Dolphins’ Chief Executive Terry Reader said securing Cobbo long-term was an important move for the club.

“Selwyn has made an immediate impact since joining the Dolphins and what he has been able to produce in his first season at the club has been remarkable,” Reader said.

“It is clear the environment has really suited him and he is enjoying his football – and Selwyn’sperformances are underlining that.

“At just 24 years of age we know there is still plenty of great football ahead of him, and we’re excited that will be in a Dolphins jersey.

“He has quickly become an important part of our team and to have a player of Selwyn’s calibre committed to the club through until the end of 2031 is a great result.”

Cobbo has already built an impressive record across his young career, scoring 67 tries in just 102 NRL appearances.
