Match Preview: Round 15 – Dolphins v Roosters

A sixth straight win is on the line as the Dolphins welcome the Roosters to Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

The last time the two sides met came in Round 23, 2025, with the Roosters claiming a 64-12 victory. Across the club’s short history, the teams have met five times, with the Roosters winning four of those encounters.

Friday night’s clash will once again see the Arthur Beetson Medal presented to the player judged best on ground, honouring one of rugby league’s greatest figures and a man forever connected to both clubs.

Another piece of history could also be within reach for Dolphins winger Jamayne Isaako. Isaako has scored points in 93 consecutive NRL appearances dating back to 2022 and can equal Steve Gearin’s premiership record of 94 straight games with points.

Team News

Dolphins

The Dolphins will be without five key players due to State of Origin duties, prompting several changes across the side.

Trai Fuller moves into the fullback role, while Tevita Naufahu comes onto the wing. Felise Kaufusi shifts into the starting front row and Oryn Keeley starts in the second row.

Brad Schneider moves to the interchange in the No.14 jersey, with Sebastian Su’a and Brian Pouniu named as 18th and 19th men.

Roosters

Veteran halfback Daly Cherry-Evans partners Hugo Savala in the halves, while Cody Ramsey replaces James Tedesco at fullback. Reece Foley and Egan Butcher move into the centres, Tommy Talau comes onto the wing and Salesi Foketi starts at lock.

Benaiah Ioelu, Taylor Losalu, Rex Bassingthwaite and De La Salle Va’a have all been added to the interchange bench.

Match-Up

Trai Fuller v Cody Ramsey

With both teams missing their regular fullbacks to State of Origin, two exciting replacements step into the spotlight.

Fuller returns to the number one jersey for the Dolphins after recently extending his contract with the club and will look to inject speed and support play around the middle of the field. The livewire fullback has proven he can create opportunities with his running game and ability to back up through the middle.

For the Roosters, Ramsey earns his opportunity at the back in place of James Tedesco. The former Dragons outside back has shown plenty of resilience to return to the NRL and brings plenty of pace and attacking spark.

Both players will be eager to make the most of their opportunity, with their involvement likely to play a major role in the outcome.
