The Dolphins NRLQ 21s have fallen short in Round 2, going down to the Titans 20-12 in a tough contest at Premiers’ Park.
It was a challenging opening half for the Dolphins, with the Titans capitalising early and building momentum through quick points. The visitors crossed for four first-half tries, taking control of the game and heading into the break with a commanding 20-0 lead.
Despite the scoreboard pressure, the Dolphins refused to go away.
They returned from halftime with renewed energy and defensive resolve, shutting the Titans out completely in the second half in a much-improved performance.
The breakthrough came in the 63rd minute, with five-eighth Brooklyn Sabine slicing through to score the Dolphins’ first points of the afternoon. Callum Bowles added the extras to reduce the margin and give the home side a spark.
That momentum carried late into the contest, with the Dolphins continuing to apply pressure. Bowles then crossed himself in the 78th minute to bring the Dolphins within reach, before calmly converting his own try.
While the late surge showcased the Dolphins’ resilience and attacking capability, the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
There were positives to take from the second-half response, particularly defensively, as the Dolphins held the Titans scoreless after the break and showed strong composure under pressure.
Still searching for their first win of the season, the Dolphins will now turn their attention to Round 3, where they return to Kayo Stadium to face the Broncos on Saturday afternoon at 5:00pm.
