Dolphins head west for CQ school tour with Anglo American

The Dolphins have left a lasting impact in Central Queensland after a meaningful multi-day visit to the Callide region, thanks to Anglo American.

The Dolphins Game Development & Wellbeing team visited four schools across the region, connecting with students, teachers and community partners through classroom sessions, career talks, and a packed touch football gala day.

The team visited Banana State School, Thangool State School, Moura State School, and Moura State High School, delivering important messages about resilience, positive behaviour and becoming the best version of yourself, both on and off the field.

A key highlight came to Moura State High School, where two Anglo American Employees from the Dawson Mine joined the session to speak with Year 9 and 11 students. Their session gave students a real-world look at the career pathways available within the region, showcasing opportunities in trades, operations, and community engagement through Anglo American’s local workforce.

The visit wrapped up with a hugely successful Touch Gala Day, hosted at Moura Tigers Junior Rugby League. Students from Years 4 to 9 across the four schools came together for a day of teamwork, fun and friendly competition with plenty of Dolphins’ energy on display.

Former NRL players and Dolphins Game Development & Wellbeing Team members Luke Williamson and Sam Tagataese also shared their experiences with the students, delivering uplifting messages about the leadership, effort and striving for excellence in school and sport. Their stories resonated strongly with young athletes looking to grow both as players and as people.

To cap off the trip, the Dolphins painted the Callide region red, handing out Dolphins’ merchandise to every student and teacher involved, a small gesture that left plenty of smiles across the community.

The visit strengthened the club’s growing footprint in regional Queensland and continued the Dolphins’ commitment to supporting young people through wellbeing, education, and meaningful community partnerships.
