Charity Partner Update: AEIOU Foundation and Autism Awareness Month

The Dolphins have proudly partnered with AEIOU Foundation for Children with Autism, who are celebrating April as Autism Awareness Month.

As the community comes together to raise awareness and support for children on the autism spectrum, the Dolphins NRL is honoured to stand alongside AEIOU in their noble mission.

Establishing their first learning centre in 2005, the AEIOU Foundation for Children with AutismĀ supports families and children to develop essential life skills, independence and confidence. With a steadfast commitment to early intervention, AEIOU provides children aged 2-6 with the tools they need to thrive.

This April, as part of their Be Awesome for Autism campaign, AEIOU has organised activities in Brisbane and Toowoomba, inviting the community to participate and contribute to the cause. Families are invited to join AEIOU for a delightful Family Funday and Fun Run on Sunday, April 28th, at the UQ St Lucia Campus. With inclusive activities for all ages and a serene chill-out zone for children, it promises to be a morning of joy and solidarity. Find out more about AEIOU and the events at the link below.

AEIOU also recently participated in The Dolphins Round 5 game at Suncorp Stadium, where they served as the 50-50 Charity raffle partner. Thanks to the generosity of fans, a remarkable $22,244 was raised, with the lucky winner taking home over $11,000. Funds raised from the raffle will go to help children with autism receive critical support, especially early on in their lives, to help them grow and learn in a safe and welcoming environment.

At the same match, The Dolphins had the honour of hosting Arjac Welch as the Junior Mascot. Arjac, who has been a part of the AEIOU program since 2022, ran out onto the field alongside the team, symbolizing the opportunities created by this meaningful partnership.

Alan Smith, CEO of AEIOU, expressed his gratitude for the Dolphins NRL's support, emphasizing the transformative impact it has on children and families affected by autism. He highlighted the importance of recognizing the unique strengths and abilities of individuals on the spectrum, underscoring AEIOU's commitment to empowering them to thrive in school and the community.

The Dolphins NRL remains steadfast in its commitment to championing inclusivity and making a positive impact in the community. Through its partnership with AEIOU, it strives to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with autism, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to live their best life.
