Queensland Maroons Game III team confirmed

Billy Slater has today confirmed the Queensland Maroons team for Game III of the State of Origin series in Sydney.

AJ Brimson and Corey Horsburgh are the two new faces in the 17, having impressed the Maroons head coach and Queensland selectors with their respective club form for the Gold Coast Titans and Canberra Raiders.

Tom Dearden and J'maine Hopgood have also earned their places in the extended squad, as the Maroons look to build on the strong foundations set in both Adelaide in Brisbane.

Media conference: Slater on the Game III team

With Tom Flegler and Reece Walsh unavailable for selection following outstanding contributions in the opening two games, Brimson and Horsburgh are ready to take their opportunity.

Brimson will add to his tally of three Origin matches and it will be his first at fullback since making his debut in the No. 1 jersey in the opening match of the 2020 series.

Caboolture junior Horsburgh will make his Origin debut after getting his first taste of Camp Maroon last month.

Game III of the series will be played at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on July 12.
