The Dolphins NRLQ 21s produced a spirited second-half comeback to defeat the Broncos 28-18 at Kayo Stadium on Saturday, securing their second win over the Broncos this season.
The Broncos opened the scoring early before halfback Noah Fien sparked the Dolphins, slicing through the defensive line for a brilliant long-range try in the 21st minute. Despite the response, the visitors held a narrow 6-4 lead at the break.
The Dolphins wasted no time after half-time, with Brooklyn Sabine crossing just minutes into the second half before Callum Bowles converted to give the home side its first lead of the afternoon.
Momentum continued to swing the Dolphins' way when Kilarney Lavender finished off a slick attacking movement in the 53rd minute, extending the advantage.
The contest took another twist when Charlie Dickson was sent to the sin bin. The Broncos capitalised on the extra player, scoring through Finn Kendall before adding a penalty goal to reclaim the lead at 18-16.
But the Dolphins refused to be denied.
Despite playing with 12 men, Adaquix Watts-Luke crossed in the 70th minute to put the Dolphins back in front. With Dickson back on the field minutes later, the forward crashed over in the 74th minute to seal an impressive 28-18 victory.
Bowles was reliable with the boot, converting four of his five attempts to round out a memorable comeback win.
