The Dolphins have secured one of the NRL’s most explosive weapons with Selwyn Cobbo putting pen to paper on a one-year extension that will keep him in red, white and gold until the end of the 2027 NRL season.
The 23-year-old has wasted no time making his presence felt since arriving at the club, injecting speed, power and attacking flair into the Dolphins’ backline.
Already boasting an impressive NRL résumé, Cobbo has played 89 NRL games and crossed for 51 tries, a strike rate that highlights his ability to turn moments into match-winning plays.
His positional versatility only adds to his value, with the outside back giving the Dolphins flexibility and punch across multiple positions.
Dolphins’ chief executive Terry Reader said the recruitment of Cobbo had been a great move for both parties.
“Selwyn has already made his presence felt at the Dolphins - both on the field and off it,” said Reader.
“What has been most impressive is how well he has melded into our playing group and the club in general.
“He has been a great fit for the Dolphins, and I know the environment around our club is something Selwyn has enjoyed.
“We believe this contract extension is just the start of what will be a long career for Selwyn in the Dolphins’ jersey.”
Cobbo’s talent has already been recognised on the representative stage in six Origin matches for Queensland and Test honours.
He made his Test debut for Australia against Samoa in 2023, has featured for the Prime Minister’s XIII, and is a two-time Indigenous All Stars representative.
