Dolphins in Darwin: Top tips for the Top End

The Dolphins are journeying to the Top End once again in 2026.

On Friday the 17th of April, our Dolphins will be taking on the Panthers at TIO Stadium in Marrara, a short drive from Darwin’s city centre.

The Dolphins are no strangers to Darwin, having paid a very successful visit in 2024 in an away match against the Eels, coming home with the two points following a 44-16 win.

This time around the Dolphins will be the Top End’s home NRL team, and will be keen to start this new chapter with another victory.

So, be there to witness another exciting match, and do your part by helping us grow our exciting game in the Northern Territory.

While in Darwin, visitors will be able to explore the Top End’s rich culture, diverse experiences and unique history, and with the game being on a Friday night there will be ample time over the weekend to squeeze in as many activities as possible.

Starting with the wildlife, much like the dolphin is the mascot and symbol of the Moreton Bay region, the crocodile is an icon of the Territory.

To garner an appreciation for this local wildlife and much more, then head down to Crocosaurus Cove or pay a visit to the Territory Wildlife Park, or even sus out Litchfield National Park if nature is more your vibe.

For those looking for pristine waters and white sandy beaches, then Mindil and Casuarina Beach are both a must-see, and don’t worry, both beaches are fully patrolled croc-safe zones.

If you’re looking to get out onto the water, then look no further than 00Seven Jet Ski Adventures for adrenaline-fuelled thrills, or Catamaran Sunset Cruises for a more relaxing and soothing experience.

If culture and history is more to your appeal, then be sure to head to either the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory or the Darwin Military Museum.

For those who have made the trip with the whole family, the Aquascene Fish Feeding Sanctuary and the outdoor Deckchair Cinema are go-to options.

And when Saturday rolls around, there’s no better place to soak up the local flavour than the iconic Parap Village Markets. A Darwin institution since the 1980s, the markets are where culture and cuisine collide - wander through the bustling stalls, grab a famous laksa or a fresh bánh mì, and browse artisan goods and local crafts to take a piece of the Top End home with you.

If you’re needing somewhere to rest the legs and have a bite to eat after all these activities, then Stokes Hill Wharf offers a smorgasbord of dining options with waterfront views to match.

A weekend like this offers both the talent and spectacle the NRL has to offer, but also the unique beauty and experiences the Top End can provide, so do not miss out on this exceptionally rare opportunity.
