Charity Partner: Chameleon Housing

The Dolphins are excited to further strengthen their commitment to aiding our community by reinforcing their partnership with Chameleon Housing, a Moreton Bay based organization devoted to safe housing.

Chameleon Housing’s mission is to support and care for young people and young families who are left homeless, and facilitate the access to services and support required to get them back on their feet.

Dolphins Community Engagement Executive Abbey Clery is excited to continue to build upon the burgeoning relationship with the organization.

“This is our first year working with Chameleon Housing, and we are very excited to get started.

“We’re looking to really grow our presence off the field and in the community, and what that looks like for the club is something that is quite special,” Clery said.

Over the past five years, 184 people have been safely homed by Chameleon Housing, and most of these individuals have been young people aged between 15 and 25 years old.

“What they are doing right now is very important.

“Chameleon Housing are a halfway house between this rough time they’ve had, into this better future, and they help build that,” Clery said.

While their focus is largely devoted to youths and young parents, Chameleon Housing has proven in the past that their doors are open to anyone and everyone.

During the Covid pandemic, housing was offered to the elderly and Chameleon Housing also provided emergency accommodation to those affected by the 2022 Brisbane floods.

“Chameleon Housing is about being resilient, working together to change a future for people who may be in a rough spot now, but also showing it doesn’t have to stay that way,” Clery said.

The overarching goal for all those who live in Chameleon housing is not only to move into safe and sustainable housing, but also to transition into meaningful employment, training or education that provides long term life support.

“Chameleon Housing don’t just support the youth, they also have houses for young families, or young single mothers and fathers who need safe housing.

“These people often get lost in the system, but community housing becomes a safety net to reintroduce them back into society in a positive way,” Clery said.

Chameleon Housing will unite with the Dolphins at Kayo Stadium for tonight’s match as the designated 50/50 Charity Raffle partner and those in attendance, or even watching the game from home, can do their part by purchasing a ticket.

“Get behind your community, especially here at Kayo Stadium.

“One of Chameleon’s houses is only five minutes down the road from Kayo Stadium, so the funds being raised will help young people in our community get back on their feet,” Clery said.

So make sure you purchase a ticket, entrants will not only be in the running for a massive cash prize, but they will also be doing their bit to help house those in need.
