Match Preview: Round 2 – Dolphins v Titans

The Dolphins return to Suncorp Stadium on Sunday, determined to respond in the club’s first XXXX Derby of the season after opening their 2026 campaign with a loss to the Rabbitohs.

With a home crowd behind them and a strong record against the Titans, the Dolphins have the chance to reset early and make a statement in Round 2.

There is added motivation for the Dolphins after the Titans got the better of them in the Pre-Season Challenge, falling short 12-24. But regular season history has favoured the Dolphins in this Queensland rivalry, with the club winning five of its six matches against the Titans.

The Dolphins will also look to capitalise on a key milestone on the edge, with winger Selwyn Cobbo just one try away from 50 in his NRL career.

Team News

Dolphins

The Dolphins have received a timely boost for Round 2, with Max Plath and Ray Stone both named as the side looks to bounce back from last week’s defeat. Brad Schneider has been named to start at hooker, while Trai Fuller and Sebastian Su’a have been listed as the 18th and 19th men.

Plath’s inclusion adds energy and versatility to the Dolphins’ middle rotation, while Stone’s return strengthens the forward pack with experience and toughness around the ruck. The Dolphins will be aiming to tighten up their performance and turn home-ground advantage into two competition points.

Titans

The Titans have stuck with the same 19-man squad that went down to the Sharks in Round 1. Led by Queensland Origin representative Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, the Titans will be looking to respond after a disappointing start to the season and spoil the Dolphins’ return home.

After suffering a heavy loss to the Sharks last week, the Titans will be desperate to lift their intensity, particularly through the middle, with Fa’asuamaleaui expected to lead the charge.

Back on home turf and boosted by key inclusions, they have an opportunity to quickly put Round 1 behind them. If they can win the middle and apply pressure early, the Dolphins can give themselves every chance of getting back in the winner’s circle.
