Dolphins honour Royal Australian Navy with 2026 ANZAC Round Jersey

The Dolphins will honour the service of the Royal Australian Navy when they wear a naval-inspired jersey in the NRL’s ANZAC Round next month.

The specially-commissioned jersey was unveiled today at the HMAS Moreton naval base in the Brisbane suburb of Bulimba.

The Dolphins will wear the jersey in an ANZAC Day clash against the Warriors in Wellington, marking a powerful tribute to those who have served and continue to serve Australia.

Dolphins captain Tom Gilbert became the first player to wear the new jersey when he stepped onto a pontoon at HMAS Moreton this morning, officially launching the club’s 2026 ANZAC Round tribute.

The design pays respect to the prestigious ‘Dolphins’ badge, worn by sailors and officers who have proudly earned the right to serve aboard Royal Australian Navy submarines.

At the centre of the jersey sits elements of the Dolphins Badge and the conning tower of a submarine. The design recognises the dedication, professionalism and courage of Australian Submariners past and present.

The jersey also incorporates a symbolic setting sun, paying tribute to all Australian servicemen and women and referencing the final line of The Ode, recited at commemorative services across the nation:

“At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.”

Further honouring the legacy of Australia’s submarine fleet, the sleeves of the jersey feature current Royal Australian Navy submarines.

On the back of the jersey, a detailed image of the Collins-class submarine HMAS Waller is featured, recognising the proud history and ongoing service of the Navy’s submarine force.

The commemorative jersey reflects the Dolphins’ commitment to acknowledging the contribution of Australia’s defence personnel, particularly those who engage in the silent service beneath the sea.

Dolphins’ Chief Executive Terry Reader said the jersey was a significant way for the club to honour the Navy’s submariners.

“It is wonderful to specifically honour the submariners that have served our nation as part of the game’s wider ANZAC Round tribute,” said Reader.

“That the badge that Australian submariners proudly wear is a dolphin has a wonderful synergy with our club – our players too play with a dolphin on their jersey.

“We are forever thankful for all of the service our military personnel have given this country and hope this has specifically highlighted the efforts and sacrifices submariners have made for Australia.”

The Dolphins will wear the 2026 ANZAC Round jersey as part of the club’s broader tribute to the men and women who have served and continue to serve Australia.
