Team News
Dolphins
The Dolphins will unveil several new faces in Round One, with Selwyn Cobbo, Morgan Knowles and Brad Schneider all set to make their club debuts.
Up front, Tom Gilbert returns from the shoulder injury that sidelined him late last season and will captain the side alongside halfback Isaiya Katoa. Gilbert’s return is matched by prop Thomas Flegler, who is back in the NRL after nearly two years out with a serious shoulder injury.
Out wide, Cobbo lines up on the wing alongside Jamayne Isaako, with Herbie Farnworth and Jake Averillo forming a dangerous centre pairing. Kodi Nikorima partners Katoa in the halves, while the Dolphins’ forward pack is bolstered by the toughness of Morgan Knowles.
Utility Brad Schneider provides versatility off the bench as the Dolphins look to start their season strongly at home.
Rabbitohs
The Rabbitohs arrive with plenty of power under the guidance of returning coach Wayne Bennett.
The Rabbitohs spine features familiar names including Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker and captain Cameron Murray, while veteran winger Alex Johnston continues his pursuit of the NRL’s all-time try-scoring record.
New recruit David Fifita adds strike power to the forward pack, Jack Wighton also providing experience and leadership across the backline.
With halfback Jamie Humphreys out, Ashton Ward will step into the No.7 jersey, with Peter Mamouzelos has been named in the utility role.
