Wahl and Dolphins NRL team up for inspiring career wellbeing session

In July 2025, the Dolphins Wellbeing and Education team continued their commitment to holistic player development by hosting a powerful career wellbeing and education session in partnership with Wahl Australia and New Zealand.  

Held at the Dolphins' training facility, the event brought together players and wellbeing staff to explore life beyond the game, highlighting career pathways, personal branding, and the importance of family and identity.

The event was part of the club's ongoing collaboration with Wahl, the global grooming brand known for its precision tools, global reach and technologies. Wahl’s Global Educator, award-winning barber and entrepreneur Kevin Nguyen, led the session. With two decades of experience and a portfolio of celebrity clients, Nguyen inspired players with a message built on preparation, passion, and purpose.

Exploring Life Beyond the Game

Nguyen shared his journey from humble beginnings to global success, emphasising key transferable skills like communication, discipline, and branding. Players were encouraged to think about life after football and how their current platform could be leveraged to build sustainable futures.

In a relaxed 'Barbershop-style' conversation, Nguyen and players reflected on how their cultural backgrounds and upbringings shape their values and work ethic. The open and honest conversations reinforced the importance of staying grounded and using personal stories to fuel professional growth.

Players were encouraged to think strategically about their image, both on and off the field. Nguyen highlighted how authenticity and consistency are key to creating a lasting impression, whether in business, life or sport. The session encouraged players to think strategically about their image, presence on and off the field, and long-term goals.

Dolphins winger Jamayne Isaako reflected on the wellbeing and education experience, saying, “It was extremely beneficial for us players in terms of post-footy options.  To learn firsthand from Kevin about his life and business experiences was inspiring.”
