Queensland Maroons Game I squad announced

Queensland Rugby League (QRL) is pleased to announce the Queensland Maroons squad for Game I of the 2025 State of Origin series.

Maroons head coach Billy Slater is backing in a fresh group of Queenslanders following their strong form in the NRL, with Robert Toia (Sydney Roosters), Beau Fermor (Gold Coast Titans) and Trent Loiero (Melbourne Storm) earning their debut Origin jerseys.

All three players have been part of Queensland’s emerging pathways squads and youth representative teams in recent years.

A further three Queenslanders – Kurt Mann, Jesse Arthars and Kulikefu Finefeuiaki – are also a step closer to making their Origin debuts after being named in the Maroons extended squad.

Former Townsville Blackhawks forward Finefeuiaki played for the Queensland Under 19 team against NSW in 2022 alongside new Maroons centre Toia.

Winton junior Mann is back in the extended Maroons squad for the first time since 2021, while Gold Coast junior Arthars gets his first chance to impress in Maroons camp under Slater.

The Queensland Origin newcomers will enter Camp Maroon today alongside a host of established Maroons, including Cameron Munster and captain Daly Cherry-Evans, who reunite in the halves after Storm five-eighth Munster missed last year’s series due to injury.
