Origin players rested for Warriors clash

The Dolphins will take the same 17 players that defeated the Dragons last week into Saturday’s NRL match in New Zealand.

The Dolphins will face the Warriors at Go Media Stadium in their first trip across the Tasman.

Coach Wayne Bennett has not named Queensland Origin representatives Tom Gilbert and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow for the match.

The pair will play for the Maroons tomorrow night in Adelaide, and will rest up for the Dolphins’ subsequent clash in Sydney against Manly next Friday.

If Gilbert and Tabuai-Fidow were to play against the Warriors, they would be required to play three games in nine days as well as deal with extra international travel to and from New Zealand.

Instead the Dolphins will trust the team that beat Dragons 26-12, with Kodi Nikorima to play at fullback again.

Anthony Milford will partner Isaiya Katoa in the halves, while Ray Stone will start at lock for Gilbert.

Go Media Stadium will be familiar for many Dolphins, with Nikorima, Jamayne Isaako, Herman Ese’ese and Jesse and Kenny Bromwich all having previously represented the New Zealand Kiwis.
