Milford snatches Capras win with late field goal

Dolphins half Anthony Milford has guided the Central Queensland Capras to a narrow victory in the opening round of the Hostplus Cup over Tweed Heads.

With the scores locked up at 22-all against the Seagulls, Milford calmly slotted the one pointer in the final minutes to the delight of the Capras faithful at Browne Park.

Fellow Affiliate Kodi Nikorima also played a big role in the win, scoring a try and setting up two others in a classy display at fullback.

The two playmakers led from the front for the Capras and their performances are sure to have been noticed by Wayne Bennett.

Oliver Gildart also scored a nice try on the right edge, off great work from Nikorima, to go alongside his 181 run metres.

Front rower JJ Collins set the platform with 139 run metres and 23 tackles.

Heavy weather at Kayo Stadium on Sunday afternoon meant the Redcliffe Dolphins vs Brisbane Tigers match had to be abandoned and will be replayed at a later date.
