Felise Kaufusi says he wants to lead the way for the Dolphins when he comes home to Queensland next year.
Forever to be known as the Dolphins’ first NRL signing, the Bundaberg-born Kaufusi will join the new club at the end of this season.
And after years of success with the Storm as well as for Queensland and Australia, Kaufusi says he has clear intentions for his time at the Dolphins.
“I hope I can lead the way for the Dolphins,” he said.
“I’m hoping whoever we get is willing to come to the club and be part of a new adventure.
“It’s exciting to be a foundation player of the Dolphins and being under Wayne Bennett is a big attraction for me.”
Kaufusi said he and fellow signings from the Storm, Jesse and Kenny Bromwich, would be aiming to set standards early to make the club competitive.

“We will be a new club, but guys like myself and the Bromwich boys will try and drive a culture of winning.”
Family was ultimately the reason for Kaufusi’s link with the Dolphins, but the challenge of establishing a new club was also a big factor.
“It will be great to move closer to home,” he said.
“I have three little kids now and they will be able to see their family and aunties and uncles a lot more living in Queensland.
“Family was a large motivation, but I also like the challenge of helping a new club become successful.”
Kaufusi will be a key part of the Storm’s premiership campaign in September, and will join the Dolphins once his World Cup commitments are over.
